Blur background FAQ

Is blurring the background free?
Yes. Each photo uses one background removal from your free daily allowance or your credits. Changing the blur strength, switching to a color or editing afterwards costs nothing.
Will there be a halo around the subject?
No. Before blurring, the subject is taken out of the background and the gap is filled from its surroundings, so the subject's edges don't smear into the blur. The result looks like a real portrait lens.
How strong should the blur be?
A light blur keeps the scene recognizable, which suits product and travel photos. A strong blur gives the classic portrait look. You can change it as often as you like.
Which formats can I upload and download?
You can upload PNG, JPG and WebP photos. Download the result as a JPG for sharing or as a PNG for the best quality.
Can I edit the subject after blurring?
Yes. Open the editor to move, resize or rotate the subject and adjust brightness and contrast. The background stays blurred.
What happens to my photo?
Your photo is sent to our servers only to remove the background. It isn't used to train models or shared with third parties. The blur and your edits run in your browser.
